The Hopewell Valley League of Women Voters will hold school board Candidates Night on Tuesday (March 29).
The 90-minute program will begin at 7:30 p.m. in the TV studio at Hopewell Valley Central High School, Pennington-Titusville Road.
It will also be televised live on Comcast channel 19, and Verizon channel 32.
Beginning March 30, the forum will be re-broadcast Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays at 7 p.m., and Wednesdays, Saturdays and Sundays at 11 a.m.
The forum will feature five candidates (including two incumbents), who are running for three of Hopewell Township’s seven seats on the nine-member Hopewell Valley Regional Board of Education.
Hopewell Borough (one seat) and Pennington (one seat) are not involved in this year’s school board election. Voters in the boroughs, however, will vote on the 2011-12 school budget proposal.
Township candidates for the three three-year terms are: incumbent Laura Desai, of Federal City Road; incumbent Roy Dollard, of Elm Ridge Road; Adam J. Sawicki Jr., of Caroline Drive; Burton J. Sutker, of Lexington Drive; and Jill Vaughn, of Pennington-Lawrenceville Road.
According to the local League, April 6 is the last day to register or change a voting address for the school election.
April 20 is the deadline for mail-in ballot applications by mail for the school board election. A voter also may apply in person for that ballot to the county clerk until 3 p.m. on the day before the election. The clerk cannot accept faxed or e-mailed copies of the application, except for military or overseas voters, since an original signature is required.
The school board/budget election will be held April 27.
Voter information is available at 1-800-792-VOTE, or on the web at www.lwvnj.org.
