Casino night

Saturday, April 9 The Hillsborough Band Parents Association will hold a casino night at the American Legion Hall, 232 Union Ave., Somerville. Doors open at 6 p.m. and games begin at 7.
Tickets will be sold at the door. Advanced tickets can be bought online at www.hhs-band.org or by e-mailing [email protected]. Tickets at $40 each include food, soft drinks and $60 in chips. Since a cash bar will be available, courtesy of the American Legion, you must be 21 and older to attend.

Thursday, April 14 The Hillsborough Grand Staff Ensemble will have its spring concert at 7 p.m. at Auten Road Intermediate School, 281 Auten Road. Suggested donations are $5 for adults, $2 for students/seniors and $10 for a family.
Proceeds are awarded to a Hillsborough High School senior planning to pursue a degree in music.
The Grand Staff ensemble is made up of staff and friends of the school district, under the direction of Nancy Gallagher and Gary Smith.

Tuesday, April 19 Laurie Rowe from the Somerset County Office on Aging and Disability Services will talk about “Five Secrets to Starting (and Finishing) Tough Conversations” about decisions on eldercare plans. Emeritus at Hillsborough senior living community, to be delivered at 5:30 p.m. by Dessert, coffee and tours will be available. Free.
People who are personally involved in the care of their older family member(s) will benefit the most from this program, but anyone who anticipates having to make decisions involving an older relative should also attend.

Alzheimer’s support group The Alzheimer’s Association has a newly formed support group in Hillsborough. Family members and caregivers come together to share information and support in a safe and confidential atmosphere.
Meetings are the second Wednesday of each month at 1 p.m. in the sunroom at Emeritus Senior Living, 600 Auten Road, Hillsborough. All are welcome. Call 431-1300 if attending.
