Enrollment Open for 2011-2012 Religious School
at Congregation Kehilat Shalom
Congregation Kehilat Shalom (CKS) is taking enrollment applications for the 2011-2012 Religious School year. CKS is committed to fostering community and teaching children a love of Judaism. The CKS Religious School explores the Jewish culture (cooking, traditions, and history), arts (music, literature, art), and spirituality (prayers and Torah), along with teaching about Israel and the Hebrew language. At CKS, Religious School is both educational and fun. Grades K-7 meet on Sundays from 9am-noon. Classes are small providing individual attention to each student. CKS spiritual leader, Rabbi Susan Falk, meets weekly with the studentsteaching about holidays and prayer.
Students in grades 8-12 can participate in Kehi-Loft, a program for post B’nai mitzvah students. Kehi-Loft meets in the evening from 6:00 – 8:00 once a week and is an engaging discussion and social group that meets in the CKS teen lounge, with many sessions led by guest speakers covering present-day topics selected by our students. A pizza dinner is served and part of each session is social.
Students learn among fellow peers and teachers, developing their Hebrew language skills, learning through the Torah, and finding a deeper understanding of the rituals and holidays celebrated throughout the school year.
Come to the CKS Open House on May 15th, 9:30-11:30 am. Meet Rabbi Susan and Shari Rothstein, Religious School Principal, take a tour of the Religious School, visit with congregants over bagels and coffee and get a car wash from Kehi-Loft students. Private tours are also available. For more information, call 908-359-0420.
