Citizenship classes
The Latin American Task Force will be offering free citizenship classes to prepare immigrants for the naturalization interview required as part of the process of becoming a U.S. citizen.
U.S. history and civics will be taught, and basic English necessary for the interview will be reviewed. An immigration attorney will be visiting the classes to discuss what to expect, as well as to answer questions.
The classes will meet Wednesday evenings from 7 to 8:30 p.m. in the Princeton Public Library in April and May. Registration will take place at the first session on April 6 in the Princeton Room.

Peace activist discussion
The Coalition for Peace Action is sponsoring a talk by Dr. Lawrence Wittner, professor of history emeritus at State University of New York, Albany, on “How Peace Activists Saved the World from Nuclear War” at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday, April 12, at Trinity Church, 33 Mercer Street in Princeton.
A potluck starting at 6 p.m. will precede Dr. Wittner’s talk.
The presentation is free and open to the public. Those attending the potluck are encouraged to bring a dish to share.

Free tax assistance
The Princeton Senior Resource Center sponsoring free tax assistance for low- and moderate-income people, with special attention to those 60 and older in the wider Princeton area who are filing uncomplicated personal returns. Trained volunteers from AARP will be available to prepare New Jersey state and federal returns.
Assistance is available by appointment at the following times and locations:
Princeton Senior Resource Center, Fridays 9:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Suzanne Patterson Building, 45 Stockton St, behind Borough Hall. Call 924-7108 for an appointment.
Nassau Presbyterian Church, Saturdays 9-1. No appointment needed. Spanish spoken.
Participants must bring copies of their 2010 federal and New Jersey tax returns, as well as all necessary 2010 tax information, including W-2 and 1099 income forms, unemployment statements, SSA-1099 Social Security forms, forms indicating federal tax paid, property tax bill, dependent care provider information, and receipts for itemized deductions such as medical bills and charitable contributions.
