MONTGOMERY — The fund-raising to restore the fireworks for the Independence Day celebration in Montgomery Township, to be held Thursday, June 30, is under way with more than one-third of the total amount already in hand.
Mayor Mark Caliguire said at a meeting with committee chairman George Jarvis on Wednesday, he learned they now have $12,000 of the needed $32,000.
”I was very encouraged by the progress they have made, and I am very confident the fireworks will be reinstated as a 100 percent privately funded event,” said Mayor Caliguire.
”In addition, the committee will be selling pre-paid parking passes for the event on the website,” said Mayor Caliguire of the $15 spaces. “Parking in the high school lot for the event will be limited to those with a parking pass that can be purchased on the site. That number will be limited, and I would encourage people who want to attend to purchase them soon. We anticipate those passes will sell out quickly.”
Donations can be made at montgomeryfireworks.com by both individuals and corporate sponsors to raise the remaining $20,000. Details outlining individual and corporate sponsorship are located on the site.

This year there will be fees for vendors — nonprofit organizations will pay $100, for-profits will pay $200 and for-profits selling food will pay $350, according to the website.
