PRINCETON AREA: Police blotter

Township
   Jorge Antonio Sanchez-Nava, 42, was charged with a criminal and traffic warrants along with an Immigration and Customs Enforcement warrant for removal. At 9:44 on March 30, police received information about a homeless person living in a condemned house in the first block of Deerpath. Upon arrival, police located Mr. Sanchez-Nava in the house and determined that he had three active warrants out of Princeton Borough in the amounts of $2,500, $250 and $100. He was arrested and taken to headquarters, where police also determined he had an outstanding administrative warrant of removal from the United States issued by ICE. He was later turned over to Homeland Security and taken to a detention facility.

   Catherine Beste, 62, of Princeton, was charged with driving while intoxicated, careless and reckless driving. At 9:37 p.m. on April 1, police responded to a report of a two-car accident on Snowden Lane near Princeton-Kingston Road. At the scene, police believed Ms. Beste was intoxicated and administered field sobriety tests, which she failed. She was arrested and later released, pending court. The other driver, Alice Christianseen, 64, of Princeton, sustained minor damage to her car and complained of neck pain, police said.

Borough
   Helen Chavarriaga, 21, of Princeton, was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession with intent to distribute, obtaining a CDS by fraud and insurance fraud. At 8:18 p.m. on Monday, Ms. Chavarriaga entered a CVS Pharmacy on Nassau Street and presented two fictitious prescriptions in order to obtain 120 tablets of Alprazolam, police said. The pharmacist notified police and Ms. Chavarriga was arrested. She was later released, pending court.

   Robert Alston II, 25, of Lawrenceville, was charged with forgery and a criminal attempt to obtain a controlled dangerous substance by fraud. At 8:42 p.m. on Monday, while police were investigating a prescription fraud at CVS Pharmacy on Nassau Street, Mr. Alston entered and allegedly presented a fraudulent prescription in order to obtain 120 tablets of Roxicodone. He was arrested at the scene. He was also found to have active warrants from Lawrence in the amount of $5,000. He was later released.
Plainsboro
   Dianesa Rodriguez, 23, of Bronx, N.Y., was charged with receiving stolen credit cards, tampering with evidence, resisting arrest, obstruction and defiant trespassing. On Jan. 11, a Jersey City resident had reported that unauthorized purchases in excess of $5,000 were made on her two credit cards in Plainsboro and surrounding areas. At 2:18 p.m. on March 25, the resident notified police that Ms. Rodriguez had arranged for additional credit cards to be delivered to a Ravens Crest address. Police set up surveillance and observed Ms. Rodriguez posing as the resident and signing for the credit cards. When police approached her in the Building 1 breezeway of the Quail Ridge apartment complex, she threw the credit cards off the top of the breezeway. She resisted arrest but police were able to place her into custody without further incident. Investigation revealed Ms. Rodriguez was in possession of five fraudulently acquired credit cards from two different people. A court-ordered search warrant of Ms. Rodriguez’s car revealed an abundance of personal information for several other people in New Jersey and New York. She was taken to Middlesex County Adult Correctional Center and held on $25,000 bail, pending court. The case is still under investigation.

   Police are investigating an incident of criminal mischief that occurred between March 30 and April 2. A West Windsor resident reported on April 2 that someone had damaged his car while parked at Hunters Glen Drive in the area of Building 23. At the scene, police determined that an unknown person had gained access to the car through the driver side window and attempted to gain access to the ignition column. The extent of the damage is unknown.

   Sabrina L. McNulty, 20, of Hightstown, was charged with driving while intoxicated, underage driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, maintenance of lamps and driving while uninsured. At 2:16 a.m. on April 1, police stopped Ms. McNulty on George Davison Road for an inoperable taillight. Upon investigation, police determined she was intoxicated. She was arrested and later released, pending court.

Heather L. Markel, 23, of Hamilton, was charged with driving while intoxicated, reckless driving, improper turn, and failure to maintain a lane. At 1:41 a.m. on April 1, police stopped Ms. Markel for making an improper turn and failing to maintain a lane on Scotts Corner Road. Upon investigation, police determined she was intoxicated. She was arrested and later released, pending court.

Police are investigating an incident of identity theft. At 6:38 p.m. on Monday, a Plainsboro resident reported that an unknown person had used his name and last four digits of his social security number to make themselves the primary account holder of his AT&T wireless phone account. Once the person had control of the account, they renewed the phone contract for an additional two years and purchased a new Apple iPhone 4 at a reduced cost.

   Police are investigating an auto theft that occurred between 10 p.m. on Monday and 7:35 a.m. on Tuesday. A resident of Pheasant Hollow Drive reported that his 2004 Jeep Liberty was stolen from the parking lot of Building 17 in the Pheasant Hollow complex. The value of the car is about $9,000.
Montgomery
   William Manson, 60, of Flemington, was charged with failure to observe a traffic signal, failure to maintain a lane, driving while intoxicated and refusing to submit to chemical tests. At 11:59 p.m. on March 30, police observed Mr. Manson make a right turn in a posted no-turn-on-red zone at the intersection of Route 206 and Route 518. Police stopped him after seeing he was not maintaining a single lane. Police detected the odor of alcohol on his breath and conducted field sobriety tests, which determined that he was intoxicated. He was arrested and later refused to provide breath samples. He was released on his own recognizance, pending court.

   Timothy Tarver, 30, of Hamilton, was charged with a warrant arrest, hindering apprehension, failure to observe traffic signal and driving while suspended. At 12:39 p.m. on March 31, police stopped Mr. Tarver after observing him go through a red light at the intersection of Route 206 and Princeton Avenue. Mr. Tarver said he did not have his driver’s license or any other form of ID on him. He gave police a name, address and date of birth, which police determined were false. The driver admitted to lying and gave his real name. He was arrested after police found his license was suspended and he had an active traffic warrant out of Trenton. He was released after posting $2,500 bail for the hindering charge, pending court in Trenton.

Jesse Hric, 22, of Phillipsburg, was charged with driving while intoxicated, maintenance of lamps and failure to inspect. At 2:30 a.m. on Saturday, police stopped Mr. Hric on Route 206 near the Montgomery Shopping Center for inoperable brake lights. During the stop, police detected the odor of alcohol on his breath and determined he was intoxicated after administering field sobriety tests. A passenger in his car, Jonathan Hric Jr., 24, of Washington, was charged with failure to wear a seatbelt.

   Eldridge Betts, 21, of Chicago, was charged with driving while suspended. At 6:23 a.m. on Saturday, police located Mr. Betts on Route 206 at Dutchtown-Harlingen Road, after he reported an accident of striking a deer. He was not injured. Police found that his driver’s license had been suspended.
West Windsor
   Police are investigating a theft that occurred between 7:30 and 10 p.m. on April 1 at Babies R Us in the Nassau Park Shopping Center. A Lawrenceville resident reported that an unknown person entered an unlocked office and stole more than $200 from her purse.

   Kevin J. Pierson, 46, of Hamilton, was charged with obstruction administration of law, resisting arrest and speeding. At 7:32 p.m. on Saturday, police attempted to stop Mr. Pierson for speeding while he was traveling north on Hughes Drive. Police came upon the car, which was disabled in the left lane. Mr. Pierson attempted to run away, but police caught up with him and placed him under arrest. Hamilton Township police assisted at the scene. He was later released, pending court.

   Police are investigating an incident of criminal mischief, involving burglary and theft. Between 5:15 and 6:08 p.m. on Sunday, a Lawrenceville resident reported that an unknown person broke the passenger side window of her 2004 Jeep and stole her purse while the car was parked at the Super Star East Buffet in the Nassau Park Shopping Center. The purse contained items valued at about $600. The cost to repair the vehicle’s window is estimated at $500.
