By Victoria Hurley-Schubert, Staff Writer
Thomas Zucosky has withdrawn from the Borough Council race, citing the wishes of the Princeton Community Democratic Organization to unify the party.
”Respecting the wishes of the PCDO members and wanting to solidify the party for the primary, I have decided to end my candidacy for Borough Council,” he wrote in a letter to the editor of The Princeton Packet.
Mr. Zucosky did not collect enough borough votes to qualify for endorsement at PCDO’s endorsement meeting on Sunday night, He accumulated 36, or 32 percent, of the 113 borough votes that were cast.
Challengers Heather Howard and Councilwoman Barbara Trelstad received endorsements from the PCDO.
”There are times that we care enough that we do the right thing for our community, regardless of the potential outcome. From my perspective, the real victory was being partially responsible for a packed house to see the candidates in an important race,” he wrote.
Republicans have not announced their candidates yet. There is still time for other candidates to come forward, the filing deadline for the June 7 primary is Monday.
