To the editor:
I am very happy to see that Pat Del Piano is running for the Board of Education.
Pat is a regular guy who tells it like it is and most of all is always fair. Pat worked for 28 years as a fireman in Jersey City.
He put is life on the line for others.
Caring about people is in his DNA and we are all better off because of people like Pat. For over twenty years, Pat has served the children of this town as a volunteer through his work as a football and track coach.
After his son was done with Pop Warner football, he continued to support the South Brunswick PAL program by working the Snack Shack for an additional seven years.
During this time he would have his kids work in the Snack Shack with him to earn some community service hours.
The funds created by the Snack Shack helped support the program but an additional benefit was the leadership lessons learned by the children who Pat supervised along the way.
The children needing community service hours would come to the Snack Shack and Pat would put them to work.
Even after many of them had completed their community service hours, the kids would still continue to volunteer.
When you would ask them why came back it was because they loved being around Pat. He would make them laugh and teach them responsibility at the same time.
For the last two years, Pat has been a member of the Viking Athletic Club at the High School, which raises money for numerous awards and scholarships each year. A great deal of that fundraising is made possible by the efforts of Pat Del Piano.
In addition, Pat has worked dozens of events at Rutgers University raising thousands of dollars for the Cross Country Team.
His efforts have allowed the team to attend camps in the summer.
Some people stand up and tell you how much they care about the children but Pat lets his actions speak for him.
If you want someone who loves children and is willing to work hard to provide them with opportunities then Pat Del Piano deserves your vote.
