CRANBURY – A family thanks Chris the crossing guard

By The Ferrante family, Cranbury
To the editor:
We read in today’s Cranbury Press a letter from Chris Christiansen Jr. about how he feels the people he sees each day reflect the character of Cranbury.
We felt it was important for readers to know that we think Chris himself is an example of one of the best aspects of our small town.
Each morning, whether we drive past him on the way to school or walk past his Main Street post, Chris has a friendly wave or comment. The fact that our family knows him as “Chris the Crossing Guard” is indication enough of his positive presence in our lives.
But Chris is far more than a crossing guard — he has been known to bring spinach from local farms to our home when it’s in season and, once in a while, beautiful sunflowers. We bring him holiday cookies at Christmastime.
We’d certainly miss him if he weren’t at his post (we actually can’t remember that ever happening!), and we’d like to say, “Thank you, Chris, for your hard work and dedication to the safety of our children.”
