PLAINSBORO With the continued support of the Plainsboro Democratic Organization, Mayor Peter Cantu has announced his plans to seek re-election to the Township Committee.
The organization announced last week its unanimous endorsement of Mayor Cantu, who has served on the committee for 37 years, 31 of which have been as the mayor.
Organization chairman Robert Schwartz noted the recent achievements under the mayor’s direction, including open space preservation, the new library, the University Medical Center of Princeton and the Princeton Center for Arts and Education.
”None of this just happens,” he said. “All of it is the result of the careful planning and outstanding leadership of Mayor Cantu and the Township Committee.”
Mayor Cantu said he was pleased with endorsement and hopes to serve another three-year term.
”I’ve had a long history in Plainsboro and I’m interested in continuing to contribute,” he said.
”There is always an ongoing effort to identify new ideas to help move the township forward, and Mayor Cantu and the Township Committee have encouraged communication and participation as ways to build on Plainsboro’s record,” said Greta Kiernan, president of the Plainsboro Democratic Club.
The mayor added that if re-elected, the committee would keep many of its same goals.
”We are still dedicated to open space preservation and strong financial planning, and we’re all excited about Plainsboro’s future and making this is a great place to live.”
The mayor will give a “State of Plainsboro” address to the Plainsboro Business Partnership next Tuesday at the Princeton Windrows.
