LETTER TO THE EDITOR

Comments challenged

Michael Dauber, Bordentown Township mayor
I take issue with Mr. (Andrew) Watson’s comments calling my statements misleading and misrepresentations. If Mr. Watson attended the meeting, he would have known that our conversation discussed what services taxpayers receive for their tax money and we did make the clarification that the Fire Districts were a separate taxing entity, with their own budget and taxing authority.
Furthermore, he states that the Fire District 2 budget was overwhelming approved by the voters. While this statement may be technically correct, the township has over 6,600 registered voters and more than half reside in Fire District 2, 73 yes votes out of 87 voters, is hardly overwhelming approval.
For the record, the fire companies provide a valuable service to our community and do a good job at what they do and the Township Committee and the residents appreciate their service.
