On Saturday, May 14th, the Raritan Valley Road Runners (RVRR) will sponsor an outdoor “open house” at Grove # 5 near the Landing Lane entrance to Johnson Park, 1050 River Road, Piscataway, NJ from 7:30 am to 9:30 am, with a group stretch at 7:50 am. Joggers and runners of all ages and fitness levels from beginners to experienced racers are encouraged to attend. You should be medically able to participate and will be asked to provide guardian approval if under the age of 18. Attendees will be encouraged to start with a short run within Johnson Park or a longer run out and back on the D&R Canal towpath which is adjacent to the park. The tree lined towpath has a flat surface of packed dirt, gravel and crushed stone. While this is not a formal training program, we will provide support and a training plan that will allow you to run a 5K race this summer. There is no cost for this open house and light refreshments will be provided. While bathrooms are available, you should come ready to run. To rsvp or if you have any questions, please send an email to [email protected].
RVRR promotes the sport of running and its healthy lifestyle. The Raritan Valley Road Runners have met weekly since 1983 for an unbroken streak of consecutive Wednesday night runs! They also meet every Saturday morning in Johnson Park for group runs. Most runs are followed by a meal at a local restaurant, with good food, drinks and friends. RVRR also provides a forum for finding running partners, training advice and local running routes, as well as quarterly membership meetings, featuring experts in running shoes and gear, stretching, nutrition, etc. With over 200 member, RVRR has runners who run socially as well as competitively. RVRR has won the overall USATF-NJ Club Grand Prix since the awards’s inception in 2001.
