Jewish tradition to be explained, compared to Christian holiday
Adults age 60 and older are invited to learn about the Passover Seder, a ritual family dinner of ceremonies and symbols that have special significance to the retelling of the story of exodus to the Jewish religion.
The program will start at 10:45 a.m. on Wednesday, April 20, at the Hillsborough Senior Center, South Branch Road. Registration for the program and lunch is requested by Friday, April 15.
The educational program is open to people of all faiths and cultures.
Estelle Julianwill discuss the tradition and symbolism of the Seder. With its special foods, songs and customs, the Seder is the focal point of the Passover celebration. Rev. Timothy Wolf, New Horizon Christian Fellowship, will discuss parallels between the Jewish Passover and Easter.
The lunch menu will include chicken matzo ball soup, roasted orange-glazed chicken and mashed potato stuffing. Meatless options will include vegetable matzo ball soup and a portabella, spinach, tomato and goat cheese napoleon.
A suggested donation of $1.50 is recommended for those age 60 and older. The cost of lunch for those younger than 60 is $5.35.
