The Manville Education Foundation is sponsoring its second golf outing to help raise money for the foundation’s grants and scholarships. The golf event will be held on Thursday, May 19 at the Hillsborough Country Club on Wertsville Road in Hillsborough.
The MEF held its first golf outing in September and it proved to be a success so it was decided to make this an annual event. According to Chairman Joe Homyak, this event is good for everyone.
”Young and old like it alike,” he said. “There are a lot of alumni from the school system that we hope to bring back in to give back to the kids. As products of the system, the town is trying to do a lot to promote the school system. We are hoping that this will further promote the community and the school system and we can generate some new funds to start some new grant programs to the kids for something that the school system otherwise wouldn’t have, in addition to the scholarships we already hand out.”
Registration is at 8 a.m. with a continental breakfast and tee time is at 9 a.m. Lunch will be on the course.
Awards will be given for the longest drive, closest to the pin and the low gross team score. The game will be in the scramble format.
The cost for an individual player is $125 and amenities include golf fees, lunch and beverages during the event and a three-hour open bar with dinner buffet afterwards at Gatto’s Sports Bar in Manville. Proper golf attire is required with no T-shirts, blue jeans, cargo pants or cargo shorts.
The Manville Education Foundation is an independent, non-profit organization dedicated to enhancing and enriching the educational opportunities and curriculum available to our students through innovative teaching and scholarship programs.
Sponsorships will assist in providing additional opportunities for the students as they continue to excel in making the Manville School District meet and exceed the educational standards set by the State of New Jersey.
Sponsorships are being sought for the event. Corporate sponsorship is $500 and includes a tee sign, foursome and name in the program. Lunch sponsor is $500, and tee sponsor is $100 for a tee sign and name in the program.
The foundation asks individuals or businesses to donate merchandise, services or gift certificates to be used for an auction following the day of golf. Any monetary donations will also be accepted and appreciated.
