No matter that it snowed on April Fool’s Day and that temperatures have continued to register winter-like levels nearly every day since the spring season began on March 20.
The morning after snowflakes blanketed lawns all over Bucks County, the New Hope Garden Club’s vanguard of volunteers, led by Chuck Tarr, launched the spring season in New Hope.
Armed with the generous donation of hundreds of multi-colored pansies from The Living Earth Home and Garden Center, the volunteer group fanned out around the borough planting the flowers that harbinger the season of hope.
Now, West and East Bridge Streets, Stockton Avenue, West Mechanic Street and South Main Street have cast off the winter pallor in favor of bright yellow, blue, purple and white pansies. And plans are to transform the borough’s parks on South Randolph, Ferry Landing and West Ferry Street, as well.
Joining Mr. Tarr were Marilyn Cichowski, Councilwoman Geri Delevich, Dave Kemble, Clare Kovacs, Bill and Linda Low, Robert Luisi, Phil Orchowski, Councilman Rey Velasco and Roy Ziegler. Earlier in the week the team was joined by Bill Kiefer and Libby and Gordon Nieburg and Elsa Wise, who helped prepare the planters for the flowers.
”This is the 14th year that Sue and Jim Fagnani of The Living Earth Home and Garden Center have donated so many hundreds of beautiful flowers to the borough. The New Hope Garden Club is truly grateful for their continued community spirit and generosity,” said Mr. Tarr. For information about joining the New Hope Garden Club, contact Mr. Tarr at 215-862-0883.
