SOUTH BRUNSWICK – Support Deven Patel for school board

By Arif Patel, Monmouth Junction
To the editor:
I want to encourage everyone to understand how important the upcoming school board elections on April 27 are for our children and the residents of South Brunswick.
Between now and then it’s our own individual responsibility to engage in proactive dialogue with the candidates for the Board of Education.
What realistic ideas and insight will they provide that can help move our district forward. An effective Board requires a right mix of experienced members with new members.
We have a diverse population in our township and we are at a point in our township’s history where we have qualified and viable candidates to choose from that bring personal and professional credentials that will continue to help shape and prepare our school district to meet the challenges that our school district will face in years ahead.
One candidate that is doing that and can do even more to move our school district forward is Deven Patel (no relation).
He has been building relationships with the key stakeholders for a number of years in the school district and in the township. His commitment to this township is evident by his involvement on the township Transportation Committee and his other civic-minded duties.
Whether it’s supporting our library or being the director of fields for the S.B. Soccer Club in the past, he is in tune with the pulse of our township in a myriad of different ways. In addition, working as a civil engineer for the State of New Jersey, he’s keenly aware of the budget crisis that we face at the state level and can help us navigate these difficult times utilizing his experience and professionalism.
One other point, with triplets in the school system, Deven cannot do this alone, his wife plays a key role in supporting the family allowing Deven to help others in the township
Between now and April 27, contact Deven and the other candidates, see what their ideas are, find out how sincere they are, discover what attributes they possess that will help our schools and this will allow you to cast an informed vote come election day.
Demonstrate your support is by coming out and voting on Wednesday, April 27. Please do your part and make your voice heard!
