Princeton Young Achievers Expresses Appreciation for former Executive Director Pamela Elmi

By Joanne Gere
Princeton, NJ April 18, 2011- Students and teachers at Princeton Young Achiever’s program at the Henry Pannell Learning Center on Witherspoon Street expressed their appreciation for former Executive Director Pamela Elmi’s work with a song and a handmade card. After four years building PYA’s programs and infrastructure, Ms. Elmi has taken a position in the Robbinsville school district, where she will launch a new school-based program for before and after hours.
Pamela is a well known figure around Princeton, having run after school programs and other activities at the YWCA for a number of years prior to taking the position at PYA.
With learning centers in three sites around town, Princeton Young Achievers offers programs that support students from kindergarten through fifth grade with homework help, arts and enrichment experiences, and a safe environment for social and academic development. Many community partners, foundations, and companies help to make these programs possible for PYA’s young students.
A community fundraiser is planned for May 7, 2011, 6:30 pm at the Performing Arts Center at Princeton High School. Black Violin will perform a concert for all ages. The group of two classically-trained violinists, and a DJ, blend the classical with the modern to produce a signature sound that breaks all rules.
