HILLSBOROUGH: Student wins $1,000 for anti-smoking ad

School also gains $1,000 from medical group

Don Anthony Tyson Jr. of Hillsborough High School was rewarded for his print ad encouraging people to stop smoking.
ENT and Allergy Associates, with the American Cancer Society and the Mt. Sinai Medical Center, presented Don Anthony and school administrators each with $1,000 checks on March 24.
This is the third year that ENTA and its partners conducted a high school anti-smoking contest in conjunction with the Great American Smoke Out, as a way to engage teens in the effort to stop smoking.
This year’s print ad contest challenged students to express the dangers associated with smoking, as a way of discouraging their peers from taking up the habit. Don Anthony, a 10th grader, won for best ad from a New Jersey student; the same awards are given in New York.
