POLICE BLOTTER: Week of April 21

   A caller reported to police at 4:33 a.m. on April 11 that two men were checking cars to see if they were unlocked near Roosevelt Avenue and South 16th Street. Police officers responded and located Craig Byra, of 1403 Roosevelt Ave., and Randall Opie, of 80 Claire Drive, who were both taken into custody. Mr. Opie was transported to Somerset Medical Cemter by Manville police for an ankle injury suffered while attempting to run away from officers. The investigation will continue, police said.

   A South 12th Avenue resident reported at 6:40 a.m. on April 11 that two of his tires were slashed in the overnight hours. The vehicle was legally parked in front of the residence, and the total damage was $190.

   A South 12th Avenue resident reported at 7:03 a.m. on April 11 that two of his tires were slashed. The vehicle was parked in front of the residence since April 4, and the total damage was $190.

   A caller reported at 11:49 a.m. on April 11 that his front door was damaged. Patrol responded and reported that the damage occurred sometime between 7:30 p.m. on April 10 and 11 a.m. on April 11. The estimated value of the damage is $200.

   A Boesel Avenue resident reported at 10:18 a.m. on April 15 that her daughter’s vehicle was vandalized while parked in the driveway. The vehicle had obscene remarks, which were removed, written in grease pen.
