Artists In Residence (AIR) has announced a spring fundraiser and the nonprofit’s only benefit for the year, a luncheon at Marsha Brown Restaurant.
The event takes place on May 4 from 11 a.m.-2 p.m. at the old stone church on South Main Street, New Hope. Tickets are $40 and may be purchased online through Paypal at www.bucksair.org or calling 215-901-7849.
Guests will have a three-course meal along with a chance to win basket gifts via raffle and the opportunity to peruse and buy from a selection of vendors. All proceeds raised go directly to AIR, which funds arts programs to under-funded schools in Bucks County.
Most recently AIR completed two permanent art installations: a tile mosaic mural, “It’s A Small World,” made entirely by students, faculty and staff at Walt Disney Elementary in Levittown, Pa.; and a quilt mural handmade by third-graders from Benjamin Rush Elementary in Bensalem, Pa. Both projects were completely funded by the nonprofit arts organization. With the help of AIR, third-graders from New Hope-Solebury are in the process of completing their permanent mosaic mural of downtown New Hope in the third grade wing of the district’s Upper Elementary School.
AIR is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization dedicated to exposing children to the arts by placing visual, performing and literary professional artists into regional schools. Research has proven that exposure to the arts improves a child’s ability to think, express themselves and succeed academically. Since its inception in 1998, AIR has expanded from serving one elementary school with approximately 500 students to serving eight schools in Pennsylvania. Approximately 5,000 students and teachers will participate in AIR residencies during the school year. Visit AIR at www.bucksair.org or call 215-901-7849.
