POLICE BLOTTER

On April 7, Sgt. Robert Brown went to the Lambertville boat launch to check out a report about a person operating a boat while consuming alcohol. When he arrived, the boat was coming to shore. It was occupied by one person, the operator. An open bottle of Budweiser beer was seen on the floor of the vessel. The operator, who was asked for credentials, said he did not have an ID with him or any documents concerning the boat. He identified himself as Francis Ramel, 54, of Quakertown, Pa.
When questioned about the beer, Mr. Ramel allegedly said he was drinking it while he was operating his boat.
While pat-searching him, police said they found a large object that felt like a gun in his pocket. The handgun was loaded.
Mr. Ramel was taken to headquarters for processing and was charged with possession of a handgun, possession of hollow point bullets, BWI, no registration in possession, no boaters certificate in possession, careless operation and open container of alcohol in public. Bail was set at $10,000 (10 percent provision). Mr. Ramel was taken to Hunterdon County Jail in default of bail.

The vehicle was straddling the white lines separating the fast and slow lanes, nearly the entire distance from Bridge Street to Mount Hope Street. The officer conducted a motor vehicle stop in the area of Feeder Street. The driver, Kyle Major, of Hamilton, was allegedly intoxicated, police said. He was charged with DUI, speeding and failure to produce registration.
