Royal Wedding fever has crossed the pond to Princeton.
The Princeton Public Library is hosting a 5 a.m. screening of the live broadcast of Prince William and Kate Middleton’s nuptials at London’s Westminster Abbey on April 29 in the Community Room.
Tea and scones will be served.
The screening party came to fruition after the library posted a question on its Facebook page asking if anyone would come.
”This wedding is a historic event, and we want to make it a day to remember,” said Leslie Burger, executive director of the library. “Our patrons will be able to watch together as a community. Sometimes a library has to be spontaneous, and this is one of those cases.”
Wedding-watchers wearing a hat worthy of attending the ceremony will be entered in a raffle drawing for a gift bag with a commemorative book about the couple, among other items.
The program is free and open to the public and no pre-registration is required.
Princeton Public Library is located on Witherspoon Street in downtown Princeton.
