SOUTH BRUNSWICK – New management is familiar at Bagel Basket

By Mary Brienza, Staff Writer
It does not happen that often where the owner of a business sells it and then buys it back within a couple of years, but that is exactly the case for the Bagel Basket.
Kendall Park resident Bobby Patel, 52, bought the Bagel Basket located in the South Brunswick Square Mall on Route 1 in 2000.
Mr. Patel said he then sold the business in 2008 in order to go to India for a period of time.
When he returned, however, he said he learned that the business was not doing well under the new owners, so he bought the business back from them.
The restaurant and deli features coffee, bagels, cream cheeses, sandwiches and lunch specials, Mr. Patel said.
Catering services are also available, and the catering platters are listed online at the restaurant website, www.bobbybagelbasket.com, Mr. Patel said.
The business is open for breakfast and lunch from 5 a.m. to 5 p.m. Monday-Friday, and on Saturday from 6 a.m. until 3 p.m., according to the restaurant’s website.
Monmouth Junction resident Juan Camarillo Lopez, 33, said he is the baker and has worked at the Bagel Basket for four years, making the bagels, muffins and cream cheese.
Mr. Patel said he also owns one of the two Little Caesar’s Pizza restaurants in North Brunswick, but that he spends more time at the Bagel Basket.
