“Morven in May,” the annual garden party at Morven Museum & Garden in Princeton, will be held on Friday, May 6, from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Guests will gather in the gardens and galleries to enjoy cocktails and herb-flavored hors d’oeuvres, while being entertained by a roving musician.
Featured in this year’s silent auction is a set of cast- iron grapevine garden furniture, ca. 1870. In addition, partygoers will have the opportunity to win a number of interesting garden-related items donated by community members and local businesses.
The garden party follows the members-only preview sale for the popular Morven Heirloom Plant Sale, which will be held from 1 to 4 p.m. on May 6. The theme of the May garden-focused weekend is “Morven’s Gardens: Past, Present, and Future.” Morven will unveil its new master plan for the grounds at the event, displayed alongside photos from past eras, when Stockton family members, Robert Wood Johnson, and New Jersey governors resided on the property. Among plant offerings will be exciting new varieties and heirloom favorites.
“Morven in May” is the nonprofit museum’s biggest fund raiser of the season, with proceeds supporting the upkeep of the gardens. Located in the former New Jersey Governor’s Mansion, the museum showcases the cultural heritage of the Garden State through exhibits of fine, folk, and decorative arts and educational programs.
Morven Museum & Garden is located at 55 Stockton St., Princeton. For details about the garden party or the Heirloom Plant Sale, visit www.morven.org, or call 609-924-8144 ext. 113.
