WEST WINDSOR PLAINSBORO The election of the Board of Education and budget vote will take place Wednesday.
Polls will be open from 7 a.m. to 9 p.m. at four locations.
West Windsor residents may vote at Grover Middle School, Village School and High School South, according to their respective voting districts. Residents are asked to refer to the township website to check which voting location corresponds to their district. All Plainsboro residents may vote at the municipal building on Plainsboro Road.
Voters will be asked to approve the proposed $158.6 million budget, which carries a 2.49 percent tax levy, and to elect three candidates to the board.
In West Windsor, voters will choose two of three candidates: Dana Krug, Scott Powell and the incumbent Richard Kaye. In Plainsboro, voters will choose one of two candidates: Rachelle Feldman Hurwitz and the incumbent Mani Alapakkam Manikandan.
Mr. Kaye is seeking re-election to a third term. He is a retired educator with a 44-year career as a teacher and principal. A resident for 12 years and current chair of the curriculum committee, Mr. Kaye volunteers for the Trenton Area Soup Kitchen and Dutch Neck School, among other community activities. He holds a bachelor’s degree from Queens College and two masters from New York University and the City University of New York.
Ms. Krug, a resident for 15 years, is a district parent and volunteer for several school organizations. Her professional background is in marketing, communication and project management. She is the co-president of the Community Middle School PTSA and a class parent at Village School. A Duke University graduate, her professional background is in marketing, advertising and project management, and she also holds a master’s in nonprofit management from the New School University in New York City.
Mr. Powell, a resident for five years, works as a product manager for Prudential Financial. A California native, he has two children in the district and has been a coach for the district soccer association. He earned his bachelor’s degree from Carnegie-Mellon University and an MBA from the Marshall School of Business at the University of Southern California.
Ms. Feldman Hurwitz, a resident for 11 years, is a self-employed event planner, with professional experience in fund-raising for corporations and nonprofit groups. She has two children who graduated from High School South. She holds a bachelor’s in communications and history from Rutgers University.
Mr. Manikandan is seeking re-election to a second term. A resident of 12 years, he has two children in the district and works as an information technology professional. He was a member of the board’s finance and curriculum committees. He attended college in India, earning a bachelor’s degree in engineering.
The ballot will not include the solar project referendum.
