Free One-Hour Seminar Helps Cancer Survivors Move from “Patient” to “Participant in Life”

By Gail Tyrrell
On May 12, Ruby Heals Foundation will provide a free one-hour seminar, “Reinventing Your Life After Cancer,” at the Montclair Breast Center from 7 p.m. to 8:30 p.m. Designed by two-time cancer survivor Gail Tyrrell, the seminar helps people get unstuck and recreate their lives post-cancer. Cancer survivors don’t have to be patients of Montclair Breast Center in order to participate. Contact Fanny to register: 973-509-1818.
In addition, Ruby Heals will sponsor its complete eight-week workshop (free to participants) at the following locations:
• Montclair Breast Center, in July.
• Morristown Memorial Hospital’s Simon Cancer Center, beginning June 13;
• The Wellness Community in Bedminster, NJ, beginning September 14 (call 908-658-5400);
• Princeton Breast Resource Center, Contact: Kara Stephenson, Director (609-497-2100);
• These sessions are open to all cancer survivors and their families.
The Foundation’s seminar is unique in its joyful, playful approach to helping people get “unstuck” after the quagmire of doctor appointments and hospital treatments that consumed their lives during their fight with cancer. The eight-week seminar helps people discover and gain access to a new, rich and rewarding life post-cancer.
“Ruby Heals is about transforming the experience of cancer from one of fear, anger, depression and loss to one of peace, purpose and contribution,” says Ms. Tyrrell, a former global business consultant to Fortune 500 corporations, a motivational speaker, and a survivor of breast cancer.
“After people complete their treatment, they often find themselves stuck,” Ms. Tyrrell adds. “The lives they had before have irrevocably changed; they may not have the same emotional, physical, or mental capabilities. Now what? This program transforms lives by providing the environment in which people can tap into their heart’s desire and participate in new thinking, new actions, and new results.
“We support people in living new lives that are passionate, playful, prosperous and productive,” Ms. Tyrrell says.
