Don Mangan of Hillsborough, a senior at West Chester (Pa.) University, has been named the 2011 Outstanding Teacher Education Senior by the college faculty.
The honor acknowledges his academic success and teaching skills, as well as his potential for leadership in the profession.
Don is the son of Karen Shampanore and Thomas Mangan, and is pursuing a bachelor’s degree in special education.
Two Hillsborough brothers were named to the Dean’s List for academic excellence for the fall semester at Johns Hopkins University in Baltimore.
They are Timothy and Theodore Huang, sons of Ming-Hsing and Rachel Huang. Both boys attended Hillsborough High School.
Theodore, who is majoring in applied mathematics and statistics, is on line to graduate in May 2014. Timothy, who is majoring in biomedical engineering, is set to graduate in 2013.
To be selected, a student must earn a grade-point average of 3.5 or higher on a 4.0 scale in a program of at least 14 credits with at least 12 graded credits.
Stephanie Ogrodnik, a Hillsborough High grad, has received her certificates for Dean’s List at Drexel University for both fall and winter terms. She is a screenwriting major.
Two Hillsborough students were accorded academic honors at Bloomfield College in a Dean’s List ceremony Feb. 13 on campus.
Andrea M. Escobar, a sophomore majoring in elementary education and psychology, was received high honors with a GPA of 3.8 or higher.
Honored for a GPA of 3.5 or higher was Brian M. Wilbur, a junior majoring in game development and design.
Four Hillsborough students have earned academic honors for the first semester at Gettysburg (Pa.) College.
Nicole Moody, a junior, was placed on the Deans’ Honor List for attaining a quality-point average of 3.60 or higher (on a 4.0 scale) for a semester’s work.
Gaining the Deans’ Commendation List for attaining a quality-point average of 3.33 or higher were Victoria Biegel, a first-year student; Caitlyn Katzelnick, a junior, and Corey Katzelnick, a first-year student.
Maureen Lynch, daughter of Mike and Patty Lynch of Hillsborough, was named to the Dean’s List for the fall semester in the Villanova School of Nursing, where she is a freshman.
To qualify, one must be a matriculated fulltime student and earn a semester grade-point average of 3.5, with no missing or non-passing grades.
Robert (RJ) Lyons of Hillsborough earned the dean’s list for his academic performance at Lasell College in Newton, Mass., in the fall semester. He’s on track to graduate on May 15.

Golda Danquah of Hillsborough has been named to the Dean’s List at Dover Business College for the winter quarter. She attends the Dover campus.
Students must achieve a grade-point average of 3.8 or better with a minimum of 12 academic credits.
Julia Bergen of Hillsborough was recently welcomed into the Gamma chapter of the Sigma Alpha sorority at Michigan State University. The sorority promotes women in all facets of agriculture.
She is the daughter of Kathy and Paul Bergen and is a sophomore majoring in animal science.
Stephanie Silleck, a sophomore majoring in biology at The College of New Jersey, has been named to the dean’s list for the fall semester. She is a 2009 graduate of Hillsborough High School.
