JAMESBURG Voters by 230-179 approved the proposed school budget of $12,437,264, which is 3.9 percent more than last year’s budget of $11,969,499.
The school tax rate will remain flat at $2.930 per $100 of assessed valuation. The owner of a house assessed at the borough average of $124,190 will pay $3,638 in school taxes for the 2011-12 school year.
School board incumbents Linda Newton and Salvatore Brucato were re-elected with 188 and 182 votes, respectively. William Maresca got 181 votes to take the third seat, replacing Donald Peterson, who is stepping down from the board.
Jamesburg also had three write-in candidates who received significant numbers of votes. Richard Reynolds received 136, Monica Ludwig received 136 and Tom Van de Sande got 120.
These results do not include absentee ballots.
