The New Jersey 9/11 Memorial Foundation will hold its “Empty Sky” Memorial Benefit Dinner on May 9 at the Short Hills Hilton.
The event will be hosted by NJ 101.5- FM’s Dennis Malloy and feature the musical entertainment of Christian Hoff, Michael Longoria, Daniel Reichard and J. Robert Spencer — The Midtown Men — four stars from the original cast of “Jersey Boys.” This performance, however, is not affiliated with “Jersey Boys.” The event will raise funds for the Empty Sky Memorial, which will be officially opened and dedicated on Sept. 10. The Empty SkyMemorial is at the tip of Liberty State Park, Jersey City, across the Hudson River from ground zero in New York City. This is the state of New Jersey’s tribute to the 746 New Jersey residents who were killed in the terrorist attacks of Sept. 11, 2001.
James Cahill, chairman of the New Jersey 9/11 Memorial Foundation, who lost his 30-year-old son on Sept. 11, said funds for the construction of Empty Sky are in place and the additional funds raised will be used solely for the perpetual maintenance of the memorial, and an educational site will be made available for visitors to learn about Sept. 11.
The Empty Sky Memorial will serve as a reminder that these 746 residents were not lost in vain and that the United States will endure in the name of freedom.
The May 9 Empty Sky Memorial Benefit Dinner will begin at 6 p.m. A cocktail hour with a silent auction will be followed by a sit-down three-course dinner. There will also be a special VIPmeet and greet for ticket holders at the benefactor, legacy and leadership levels.
Patron tickets are $250; benefactor tickets are $1,000; remembrance sponsor tables are $5,000, which includes featured seating for 10; legacy sponsor tables are $10,000, including preferred seating for 10; and leadership sponsor tables are $25,000, including premier seating for 10.
RSVP by May 2. For reservations and instructions on how to pay by credit card, contact James Cahill at 862-485-0580.
