I n May, the Red Bank Public Library continues its regular schedule of programming, beginning 7-8:30 p.m. May 4 with “Money and Your Family”, a free monthly forum on timely financial topics presented the first Wednesday of the month by Red Bank resident Robin Goldberg, a former business executive with extensive financial experience. She will present “Five Experts’ Best Ideas to Navigate Turbulent Times.” Participants are invited to bring questions for discussion. Registration is suggested.
The al wright Unit jazz trio returns for a spring concert featuring Red Bank’s own Al Wright on drums and Ruth Wright with vocals, along with Greg Murphy on piano 7:30- 9 p.m. on May 12. They will be joined by inspirational speaker and humorist Bob Farley. The performance is free and reservations are not required.
Artists are invited to attend the Artists’ Workshop on the first Thursday of each month from 7 to 8:30 p.m. The next meeting isMay 5. Red Bank artist Joe Bergholm is the workshop’s Artist-in-Residence and works with the artists as a group and individually. The Artists’ Workshops are free and no registration is required. Participants should bring their own drawing and painting materials.
TheAcoustic Saturdays series concludes its 2011 Spring Season on May 21 with a performance by singer and guitarist Dan Toye. He has a varied repertoire of blues, country, Irish, and folk music. This performance will take place on the next to last Saturday of the month, not the usual last Saturday of the month, because of the Memorial Day holiday.
Free English as a Second Language classes for adults 18 and over are offered regularly in partnership with the Literacy Volunteers of Monmouth County. An adult book discussion group, Readin’ on the River, meets 7-8 p.m. the third Wednesday of each month.
The Red Bank Senior Center, in cooperation with the library hosts, a book discussion group on the last Monday of each month at the Senior Center at 1 p.m. Borough residents age 60 and over are welcome to join the center and participate in this or any other programs.
