Council members Dave Boyne, Chris Ciaccio and Rich Levesque, Robbinsville
When voters chose the current strong mayor form of government in 2004, they voted for balance: A chief executive who would have a four-year term to carry out an agenda, and a council that would set a budget and ask questions of the administration. Certainly it would be best if the two branches would work together, but they need not agree on every point. And that’s how it has worked out.
As members of council, for varying lengths of time, we have brought our experiences, ideas and achievements to the task of promoting economic development, and making Robbinsville a friendlier place to do business, a place that promotes a safe and family-friendly quality of life even in a difficult economy. We have welcomed updates to the Master Plan, improvements to our commercial highway and sign ordinances, and expansions to the Route 130 sewers. The longest-serving among us, Dave Boyne, supported tough decisions to fold the fire district and the former utility authority into the township government, bringing savings and efficiency.
Do we always agree with the administration? No, that would not be realistic. We don’t always agree with each other! We do, however, share a philosophy of bringing Robbinsville forward, of making the township more hospitable to growth than it was when we arrived. And we feel we have made great progress toward that goal, despite the setbacks of the national recession. We have gained valuable experience, and we wish to continue on behalf of you, the residents.
Because we live in different neighborhoods and have different careers, we bring a blend of viewpoints that makes us a balanced team. We are capable of representing each of you young and old, new parents and retirees. Robbinsville is not about one demographic or one neighborhood. It is a place for everyone. Please vote for us on May 10.
