That “Spring Feeling” Coming to Princeton Shopping Center
With Annual Spring Fling Event May 7
Event to Feature Pet Fashion Show with Adoptable Rescue Dogs
Princeton Shopping Center, 301 North Harrison Street, is hosting its annual Spring Fling on Saturday, May 7, from 11 a.m. – 3 p.m. Children will enjoy free pony rides and a petting zoo. Also for free, the first 150 children in attendance will have the chance to paint a birdhouse to keep for themselves, or to give to mom or grandma for Mother’s Day. Merchants throughout the Center will be offering sales or discounts, in addition to special spring-related activities.
“Princeton Shopping Center hosts the Spring Fling every year, and there’s always so much going on here,” said Chris Hannington, General Manager of Princeton Shopping Center. Visitors to Ace Housewares will find flower pots to paint and take home. Children who stop by Incredible Me! will meet Sparkles the Clown, who will make balloon animals for guests. There will be a First Birthday Party at Wild Child Yoga, who will celebrate with puppet shows at 9:45 and 10:45, a special dance performance at Noon and birthday cake at 12:30.
Pet lovers will have a special opportunity to adopt a rescue pet during the Cutter’s Mill Rescue Pet Fashion Show, held at 12 Noon that day. Rescue dogs in need of homes will be on hand from both Res Q Pets of Hamilton (www.ResQPets.org) and EASEL Animal Rescue League of Mercer County (www.EaselNJ.org.) Representatives from both organizations will coordinate pet adoptions with interested individuals who can provide loving homes. All rescue pets are spayed/neutered and fully vaccinated prior to adoption.
Some of the pets seeking adoption from Res Q Pets include: “Chucky,” a 9 year-old Bichon who has come full-circle since the neglect and abandonment from his prior owner; “Betty Boop,” a one-year-old Pekineese who has recovered from some health problems and currently living in a foster home until she can find her future family; and “Nina,” a three pound, five-year-old Chihuahua who was released by her prior owner when they could not afford to care for her.
“Last year, at Princeton Shopping Center Spring Fling, we found homes for two of our rescue dogs,” said Carol Quick of Res Q Pets. “One of those dogs was a partially deaf Maltese named Skipper. I see Skipper and his new ‘mom’ often and he is so very happy in his new home,” she added.
EASEL Animal Rescue League will try to find homes for Jade (approximately two years old) and Ricci (six months old), both American Bulldog mixes who are very playful. Trooper, a 6-8 year-old Staffie/Lab mix who, despite being abused in his past, is calm and gentle with children will make a great family pet.
"EASEL has had a wonderful experience doing adoptions at Cutter’s Mill at Princeton Shopping Center and we look forward to participating in this year’s Spring Fling Rescue Pets Fashion Show,” said Mark Phillips, Executive Director of EASEL. “We are hoping that once again some of our dogs will find forever homes."
