CHAPTER A
Chapter A meets the first Thursday of the month in the municipal complex. We are open to new members. Doors open at 11:30, allowing you time to review the activities we offer, sign up for our many trips and visit with friends. We have coffee and doughnuts at the end of the meeting.
Dick Meier is president; call him at 908-359-6948 if you have a question.
It’s May and Nature is in her glory. The days are longer and life is responding to her call. Daffodils, forsythia and dandelions have made everything yellow. Too many dandelions? Make dandelion wine that will cheer you up.
There is a purpose for everything in nature. Our ancestors enjoyed dandelion greens in spring, sort of tonic from the monotonous winter fare. Science is just catching up with folk wisdom; dandelions are full of nutrients.
We had a large turnout for our member appreciation luncheon. A new addition to the menu was pierogi; they were great, as was the whole meal. We need to remember to appreciate the servers and the bingo runners. It was a great day so was the cash!
We enjoyed “Chorus Line” at N.J. PAC. Nature cooperated with her timing of rain; we arrived and departed between showers. We rode in a new bus with a lady driver. She knew her way around. I was impressed with her ability to handle that big vehicle.
After our trip to N.J. PAC and getting an eyeful of the industrial areas so alien to our way of life, we were happy to return to our overgrown lawns and even look more kindly on those pesky Canada geese.
You don’t want them lounging on your lawn, though.I could use some sheep to crop down the tall grass standing in puddles of water. Maybe the rains will cease long enough for the mower to get through, now that it’s been overhauled. No complaints; we live in a paradise compared to paved-over cities.
Today (May 5) is our regular meeting. We may or may not have a speaker, due to conflicting schedules.
The Niagara trip was canceled. Not enough people were interested this time.
At June 2’s regular meeting, we expect to have a master gardener. We always listen with rapt attention and learn something new.
Upcoming dates:
June 9 The comedy “Blithe Spirit” at Hunterdon Hills Playhouse. Lunch and the comedy show for $55. Depart at 10:15 a.m. from the Pathmark lot.

Aug. 14 Annual picnic at Polish Falcons from noon to 4 p.m. Cost is $15, which is refunded on your arrival. Members only.
We have scheduled a September trip to the Boston area and historical places we’ve not been to before. This is the cradle of the revolution that sparked the conflict that brought forth our freedom. We get a great value for our money on these trips. Just consider the cost of transportation on your own; here we get meals and accommodations, too. You’ll hear more about this.
On Tuesdays from 1 to 4, card players are in the senior room. No invitation is needed. Everyone is welcome.
On Fridays from 9:30 a.m. to noon or longer, the mah jongg gang will be happy to show you how to play. Danger: You might become addicted.
We go to Atlantic City on the first Monday of the month, departing from the Pathmark lot at 9 a.m. You don’t have to be a member; everyone is welcome. It’s a large bus with restroom and direct destination (no side trips). Call Jo for details at 908-359-6418.
With lovely warm weather approaching, a walk on the boardwalk is a great way to spend the day after you’re tired of the casino.
We do not inherit the earth from our ancestors; we borrow it from our children. Native American proverb.

CHAPTER B

First, please wear your name badge to each meeting. These are helpful in identifying you to other members of the club.
