Reconsideration wanted

Lisa Coats, Bordentown City
I am writing to speak out in favor of Mike Hunninghake’s re-appointment to the Bordentown City Environmental Commission (BCEC).
In recent years, Mike has served on the BCEC and the Combined Zoning-Planning Board to protect and expand the character of the city, its resources, and much more.
The net outcome for all of us is improvement of our daily lives and a better city for all of us.
Few people are aware that Mike continuously works for the benefit of Bordentown City as liaison to various agencies, boards and committees at county, regional and state levels that develop plans and make recommendations, changing the course of our little community.
This quiet, technical, much needed work takes expertise, long-term commitment, perseverance, and passion that is very rare to find in almost any other volunteer or appointee.
It involves so much more than simple participation in a BCEC meeting once a month. BCEC newsletters, booths at public events, educational programs, articles in the newspapers, and the Environmental Commission internet site were all initiated and continuously maintained with great effort by Mike Hunninghake and the volunteers with whom he worked so closely.
Mike has also used his professional expertise and connections throughout the state to bring tangible benefits to the people of Bordentown City including well over a million dollars in outside funding, grants and gifts to increase parks and open space for all of the city’s residents.
This saves tax dollars, improves our property values, our lives, and the lives of the next generation.
Appointments and reappointments are the sole decision of Mayor Jim Lynch.
I urge Jim to reconsider and reappoint Mike Hunninghake to the BCEC.
