HIGHTSTOWN: Borough gears up for yard sale

By Jen Samuel, Managing Editor
HIGHTSTOWN — The borough is preparing for its 11th annual town-wide yard sale Saturday. More than 50 families have registered for the event.
The event’s central location is at the Hightstown-Apollo Lodge No. 41, 535 North Main St. Both the borough and the lodge are the official cosponsors of the yard sale.
Maps of registered vendors, information lists, food and beverages will be available at lodge. Additionally, multiple vendors will be sponsoring tables inside the lodge.
Yard sales will be held throughout various locations of the borough, including at houses lining the roadways of North Main St., Morrison Ave., Springcrest Drive and Hutchinson St., among many others.
Hightstown First Methodist Church, Hightstown Memorial Library, Mount Olivet Baptist Church and Greater Goods are all participating. As of Thursday morning, 41 residents are participating in the town yard sale, according to the borough’s website. Additionally, at least 10 East Windsor residents have registered.
In past years, more than 100 residents have participated in the garage sale, according to a borough press release. “Shoppers are encouraged to spend an entire day in the borough, visiting the many garage sales as well as enjoying the borough’s shops and restaurants.”
The borough has also invited community groups to participate in the daylong event, scheduled to run from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m.
At the same time, the lodge is also spearheading a blood drive on Saturday. Call 609-448-0042 for details.
For those who can’t sell all of their items, Greater Goods is willing to take the “unsold treasures” until 7 p.m. Saturday. Executive Director Leslie Koppel of Rise, which operates the thrift store, said the tax-deductible donations will support the local food pantry.
