Pidcocks hold reunion May 14

The Pidcocks will spend their 99th reunion gathering family stories for the third edition of “History of the Pidcock Family and Association.”
The family will get to work at a 1 p.m. business meeting that follows a noon pot-luck picnic on May 14 at the Greene Grove, Washington Crossing State Park, Titusville.
Family members are encouraged to bring genealogical information, family stories and ideas. A musket firing demonstration, revolutionary war history of the NJ Militia, film and visit to the visitor’s center will round out the ancestors’ story theme of the reunion. Reunion details can be found at: http://pidcockfamily.org.
Members of the Pidcock Family Association trace their descent from Jonathan Pidcock, who with his sons Emanuel, Charles and Philip served with the 3rd Regiment of Hunterdon County NJ Militia. The family lived in Lambertville and Amwell.
Family stories tell “how Charles narrowly escaped capture by the Hessians in December 1776 by scaling Goat Hill and hiding under the huge rock at Goat Hill overlook.” More details of this story are recorded on the family website: http://www.pidcock-family.org/Reunions/reunion2004/charlesPidcockHessians.pdf.
The Pidcocks have been submitting information about their branches of the family tree that now spans 13 generations, and descends through six of Jonathan’s seven children,” said John L. Moore, who chairs the genealogy update project.
”We have even set up a special e-mail address at [email protected] for Pidcock cousins to send in their data,” Mr. Moore said. He welcomes Pidcock descendants to contact the association using the e-mail address.
