Girl Scout Troop 61085
To the residents of Somerset County:
We are Girl Scout Troop 61085 of Hillsborough, New Jersey. As Senior Girl Scouts, we are working towards completing a leadership project to improve our world. This project involves increasing the recycling rates that occur in Somerset County.
Recently, we have become aware that Somerset County has been falling behind other counties with recycling rates. For our leadership project, we have chosen to focus on this issue. Recycling regulations in Somerset County have recently been changed to include all plastics, numbers one to seven. Some of the unknown examples of recyclables include clamshell containers (from strawberries, etc.), yogurt cups, margarine tubs, Arizona Iced Tea bottles, wrapping paper (non-metallic) and chipboard (cereal boxes, pasta boxes, tissue boxes, etc.).
As Girl Scouts we are working to make people aware of the new regulations which in turn will decrease the amount of recyclables that are making their way into our landfills. We have created a Facebook page to help spread the word about these new changes. If you are a member of the Facebook community, please search for the page entitled “Increase Recycling in Somerset County, NJ.”

Please “like” our page so that we can track our progress of spreading the word. On our Facebook page, additional details regarding the new regulations can be found. For those not on Facebook, more detailed information can be found on the Somerset County Recycling webpage.
Thank you for helping us to make the world a better place!
Sincerely,
Girl Scout Troop 61085
