EW man charged with attempted murder

Stabbing of a Belford man result of Friday morning pub brawl, police said.

   MONROE — Bakeer Cole, 30, of Orchard Apartments in East Windsor, was arrested Monday and charged with attempted murder after a May 6 knife brawl at Ryan’s Pub.   
   Mr. Cole walked into the police station and turned himself in at 5:18 p.m. Monday, Monroe Township Police Lt. Marc Jimenez said in a news release. 
    Police alleged that Mr. Cole had used a knife during the fight to stab Grant Kenny, 22, of Belford, according to police.
     Around 2 a.m. Friday morning, police said they arrived at the rear parking lot of the bar, 299 Spotswood-Englishtown Road in Monroe, after receiving an initial report.   
    Mr. Kenny was discovered at the scene, police said, suffering what appeared to be stab wounds to his chest and arms.
   He was taken to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital in New Brunswick, where he was treated and released.
   Mr. Cole was released from police custody Monday evening on a $50,000 bond posted by an unspecified bail bond company.
