to sell kids’ clothing
Thursday through Saturday, May 12-14 — The Neshanic MOPS (Mothers of Pre-Schoolers) group will have a kids’ clothing and toy sale on May 12 and 13 from 9 a.m.-1 p.m. and May 14 from 9-11 a.m. at the Neshanic Reformed Church, 715 Amwell Road. All toys and clothes will sell for $1 per item.

‘Love is in the air’
Friday, May 13 —The Raritan Valley Chorus will present “Love is in the Air” at 7:30 p.m. at Hillsborough Reformed Church, Route 533 and Amwell Road.
On the bill will be the Liebeslieder waltzes by Brahms and selections from Broadway shows “Porgy and Bess” and “Brigadoon.” Also featured will be the Riverside Quartet.

Girl Scout to collect
clothing to buy signs
Saturday, May 14 — A Girl Scout from Troop 60185 will collect clothing and other items to raise money for “Be Safe, Wear Your Bicycle Helmet” road signs to be installed in Hillsborough.
Scout Pooja Malhotra will collect wearable and usable clothing (men’s, women’s and children); shoes, belts, handbags, linens (bedding, curtains, towels), stuffed animals, and hard toys that can fit a 24-inch-square box.
Place items into tightly tied plastic bags, and drop them off from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m. at the Board of Education end of the municipal building on South Branch Road.
The project is Pooja’s community service project for her Gold Award, Girl Scouting’s highest honor.
Car wash boosts

Saturday, May 14 — Hillsborough Band Council will hold a car wash from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. at Hillsborough Elementary School. $5 for cars and $7 for vans/trucks.
Walk/run, fair
for cancer education
Saturday, May 14 — A 3-kilometer walk/run plus Fit & Fun Fair for cancer education will be held at Powerhouse Gym, 129 Stryker Lane, from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. This is an American Cancer Fund benefit.
There will be an open house at the gym, local vendors and crafts, fun activities, food and bands. Sign in for the walk/run sign-in starts at 7:30 a.m.; register in advance to get a free T-shirt and cancer awareness wristband. Fee is $25 per walker or $20 for seniors. The fair is free. You can also sign up as a blood donor; register at www.AmericanCancerFund.org.

to hold open house
Sunday, May 15— The Congregation Kehilat Shalom religious school is accepting enrollment for the fall and will hold an open house from 9:30-11:30 a.m. at the school at 253 Belle Mead–Griggstown Road, Belle Mead.
Meet Rabbi Susan Falk and principal Shari Rothstein, take a tour of the school, visit with congregants and get a car wash from students.
The school explores the Jewish culture, arts and spirituality, and teaches about Israel and the Hebrew language.

Golf outing benefits

Monday, May 16 — The third annual RoboRaiders golf outing will take place at the Fox Hollow Golf Club. Shotgun start is at 1 p.m. and dinner at 6, followed by a raffle and awards.
The cost is $150 per person or $140 each for a foursome, and includes greens fee, cart, beverages and dinner. Proceeds benefit Hillsborough High’s robotics team.

Students invited
to learn about SAT
Wednesday, May 18 — High school students (grades 9-11) and parents are invited to learn about the SAT and the college application process at the public library on South Branch Road at 7 p.m.
Topics will include effective SAT preparation, how to identify “good fit” colleges and strategies of successful college applicants.
Susan Alaimo, high school teacher and college advisor and director of SAT Smart, will present the program. Registration can be done online using the library calendar, at the library or over the phone by calling 908-369-2200, ext 14.

seeks used books
Saturday, May 21 — Used book donation, sponsored by the Hillsborough Library’s Friends, will be from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. by appointment only, due to limited space.
Only books, in copier paper boxes or smaller, will be accepted. Unacceptable items include books that are torn, water damaged, musty, mildewed, have brown/yellowed paper, any odor, Readers Digest condensed books, textbooks and encyclopedias.

Thursday, June 2 — The Hillsborough High School Guidance Department is offering a “College Transition Night” program for senior students and their parents at 7 p.m. in the auditorium of the high school on Raider Boulevard.
Presentations will assist and prepare graduating seniors and their parents with the transition process to college.
Professionals from the high school staff and local colleges will make presentations on related topics. A panel of HHS alumni will discuss their first year of college life while offering suggestions and “hints” for college-bound students.
