HILLSBOROUGH: Police blotter for week of May 12

   Walter Dietz IV, 26, of Hillsborough was released after being charged with hindering his own apprehension after an investigation revealed he was driving his vehicle on River Road at 1:40 a.m. on April 2 and hit a utility pole, severing it.
   Police said Mr. Dietz drove away and parked the vehicle behind a Branchburg residence to avoid detection.

   Damian Kania, 18, of Hillsborough was released after being charged with possession of less than 50 grams of marijuana after a suspicious vehicle report on Westminster Court on April 15.

   Juan Diaz, 46, of Somerset was charged with using the personal identification of another, hindering his own apprehension, being an unlicensed driver and driving on a closed road on April 17 after the car he was driving in on Millstone Road was stopped for a traffic violation.
   Mr. Diaz provided false information to the officer regarding his identity, and was taken to Somerset County jail.

   A Hillsborough resident reported on April 21 that her vehicle was entered and $300 worth of electronics was stolen while it was parked at the YMCA between 6 and 8 p.m.

   A Raider Boulevard business reported on April 22 that someone entered the business during the afternoon and stole $1,000 worth of computer equipment. The detective bureau is investigating.

   A Longhill Road resident reported on April 24 three vehicles parked in the driveway had been entered overnight and a driver’s license and vehicle documents removed.

   A Huff Lane resident reported on April 25 that a vehicle was entered overnight while it was parked in the home’s driveway. An estimated $1,220 worth of items was reported stolen from the car.

A Shire Court resident reported on April 27 that two tires on her vehicle were slashed during the overnight hours while the vehicle was parked in front of her residence. The value of the damage was reported to be $400.
