Township
Cory M. Frey, 24, of Belle Mead, was charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance, possession of drug paraphernalia, possession of hypodermic needle, and possession of a controlled dangerous substance in a motor vehicle. At 10:24 p.m. on May 2, police responded to a report of an erratic driver near Mt. Lucas Road. Police stopped Mr. Frey and discovered a substance in his possession and paraphernalia. He was arrested and later released, pending court.
At 3:39 p.m. on Saturday, police responded to the area of Riverside Drive West and Balsam Lane for a suspicious suitcase. Police found a black carry-on suitcase abandoned near the roadway. The New Jersey State Police Arson and Bomb unit responded with Princeton Fire Department and Princeton First Aid Squad. The area was blocked and traffic was detoured for about an hour and a half. At about 5:30 p.m., the area was declared safe. Police found bubble wrap and Styrofoam material inside the suitcase.
Plainsboro
Police are investigating a theft that occurred between 7:30 and 9 p.m. on April 13. A resident of Glenview Drive reported that an unknown person stole his iPhone 3GS cell phone and Mophic cell phone case while at the Princeton Alliance Church. The value of the property is about $550.
Montgomery
Lisa Schultheis, 50, of Freehold, was charged with driving while intoxicated, speeding and careless driving. At 10:48 p.m. on May 6, police stopped Ms. Schultheis on Griggstown Road. During the stop, police detected the odor of alcohol and administered field sobriety tests. She was arrested and later released, pending court.
Ben J. Campos Naranjo, 26, of Somerville, was charged with driving while intoxicated, driving without a license and failure to exhibit an out of state registration. At 10:51 p.m. on May 6, police stopped Mr. Campos on Route 601 near Reading Boulevard. During the stop, police detected the odor of alcohol and administered field sobriety tests. He was arrested and later released, pending court.
Eric Roberts Jr., 19, of Union, was arrested an a contempt of court charge at 6:15 a.m. on May 6. Police stopped Mr. Roberts for speeding on Route 206 near Montgomery Center. Further investigation found that Mr. Roberts had an unpaid warrant out of Linden for $114. He was later released on his own recognizance, pending court.
Natsuko Buurstra, 53, of Branchburg, was charged with careless driving. At 1:21 p.m. on Monday, police responded to a report of a motor vehicle crash involving a pedestrian with injuries at the Montgomery Shopping Center. Ms. Buurstra was backing out of a parking space when she stepped on the gas pedal instead of the brakes. The car struck Barbara Hallmark, 41, of Robbinsville, as she was walking in the parking lot. The car then struck a curb and stop sign before coming a stop. Ms. Hallmark sustained a laceration to her head and a dislocated elbow and was taken to Robert Wood Johnson Hospital for treatment.
