Two beautiful days!

Ellen Pineno,
Shad Fest coordinator

Chamber of Commerce
The 30th annual Shad Fest on April 30 and May 1 was two beautiful sunny days of festival fun. Visitors enjoyed everything the event had to offer; a great variety of artists and crafters, delicious food, fantastic live music, family fun and the wonderful shops of Lambertville. Those festival visitors will come back throughout the year to partake of the unique shops, restaurants, lodgings and riverside recreation that we have to offer. The success of this event would not be possible without the following:
Shad Fest Presenting Sponsor Princeton Automobile Company, Comcast, N.T. Callaway Real Estate, United Water, The Bank of Princeton, New Jersey Lottery, Hart Venture Group, Amwell Valley Self Storage, the Delaware River Joint Toll Bridge Commission, Kitchen Magic, PNC Bank, Lambertville Democratic Club, Kitchen Magic, David Lerner Associates, Renewal by Andersen and ING Financial Partners.
Our officials — Lambertville Police Director Bruce Cocuzza, police liaison Sgt. Michael O’Rourke and the entire Police Department, Paul Cronce and all the members of the Department of Public Works, The Rescue Squad, the fire departments, David Burd and the OEM, City Clerk Cynthia Ege and the City offices, and of course, Mayor David Del Vecchio and the members of City Council. The combination of all of these people helped keep Shad Fest visitors safe, and traffic moving. We could not do the event without their support and efforts.
Scholarship Poster Auction Chairman Kevin Griffin’s hard work and continued innovation resulted in another great success — the 2011 Shad Festival scholarship poster auction raised an amazing $28,695. To date the auction has raised $394,695. With the generous support of Lambertville Station, many of the expenses incurred in doing the auction will be defrayed and most of the proceeds of the auction will go into the dedicated scholarship fund for students from the South Hunterdon Regional High School sending district and the New Hope-Solebury sending district pursuing a collegiate career in the arts. Tom Martin called the auction again this year and received rave reviews.
Thanks to all the auction volunteers — John and Tracey Costanzo, Wendy Warren, Cindy Ege, Marcia Taylor, Renee Kiriluk-Hill, Melanie Tinsman and Judy Henn. The generous contributions of local businesses underwrote poster artist prizes.
Thanks to these poster prize sponsors — The Missing Peace, Rago Auctions, Goldsmiths, P.F.O/Allen’s Oil, A Mano Galleries, G. Evans, Ltd., June’s Antiques, Blue Raccoon, Jim’s of Lambertville Fine Art Gallery, La Chele Medical Associates, Sojourner, Kalmia Club, Rick’s Italian, Hopewell Valley Community Bank, Lambertville Trading Company, Heritage Village, Heath’s Service Station, Michael Burns, Architects, Zanya Spa/Salon, Dig Yoga, Coryell Gallery, The Peoples Store and DeAnna’s. Heartfelt thanks to all the artists who contributed posters; there couldn’t be an auction or a scholarship fund without them!
The spirit of volunteerism is exemplified by the following — Al Komjathy, Derek Roseman, John Duthie, David Morgan, John Holly, Adam Welsh, Jared Sterbinsky and Dana Kurtbek (who kept vendors toeing the line), Don Hart for all his help with the electric set up, for marking all the vendor spaces and helping out on the street, Shaun Ellis for heading up the wonderful slate of live entertainment, Kevin Griffin for the T Shirt and masthead design, Dennis Secula, Bert, Danielle and Stephanie at the Chamber Table, Elsie Coss, Randall Davis, Kath Semko and the folks at Sojourner. Thanks as well to Ellen Hecht, Sue Wydick and Terry Sawyer for poster distribution. A big thank you to Foreman Dan Pasciullo and the guys at the DRJTBC who help us every year with the installation of Shad Fest banners and electric.
Thanks to Wells Fargo Bank, Niece’s, Rago Arts & Auction, Hamilton’s Grill, Allied Village Square, Verizon, Coryell Gallery, The Frame Shop, and Lambertville Station. Thanks as well to St. John the Evangelist Church.
I’d also like to thank the members of the Board for all their hard work — Amy Coss aka Shad Queen, Tom Martin, Dana Cormier, Heather Caroline, Carol Cruickshanks, Erin Keyes and Breanna Fulper. Thanks to Maryann Sterbinsky, Chamber office assistant.
The Lambertville Area Chamber of Commerce is proud to be the sponsor of an event that showcases what Lambertville has to offer, gives so many local nonprofit organizations a venue for fundraising, and provides thousands each year in scholarships for local students.
