BORDENTOWN TOWNSHIP Two men, identified by police as members of the Bloods street gang, were charged with burglary, theft and resisting arrest Monday, The men, both 25, have been identified as Jaquan Reddick and Kevin Wesley, both of Trenton. Both were sent to Burlington County Jail in default of $25,000 bail.
Police were contacted by two residents of Cedar Avenue around noon, who reported suspicious activity after observing two black males pushing motorcycles down their street, headed for Route 206.
The information was important because police had previously handled a trespassing call on May 10, which involved a report of two black males peering into the window of a detached garage next to a residence on the 800 block of Route 206. The garage contained numerous motorcycles and ATV’s and police were concerned that the men had returned to the residence and stole the bikes, police said.
When police arrived they saw the men wheeling the bikes into a wooded area across from Cedar Avenue, police said. According to police the men took notice of the police, abandoned the bikes and fled.
Further investigation revealed that there was forced entry to one of the garage’s windows and the bikes, two Yamaha motorcycles, valued at $2,800, were stolen from inside, police said.
Police began an extensive search for the men which included numerous officers, canines, the New Jersey State Police Marine Unit, the Bordentown City Police Department and Mission Fire Company. Several residents of the Sylvan Glen development also assisted police by reporting sightings of the men as they were fleeing, police said.
The men were eventually located in a wooded marsh area behind West Edgewood Avenue in Bordentown and were apprehended.
Both were also charged with criminal trespass after police determined they were the same men who had traveled to the home on May 10.
