asks for used books
Saturday, May 21 — Used book donation sponsored by the Hillsborough Library’s Friends, 10 a.m. to 1 p.m. by appointment only, due to limited space.
Only books, in copier paper boxes or smaller, will be accepted.
Unacceptable items include books that are torn, water damaged, musty, mildewed, have brown/yellowed paper, any odor, Readers Digest condensed books, textbooks and encyclopedias.

Award to be given
at school concert
Wednesday, May 25 — The Auten Road Intermediate School music department, retired music teacher Gary Smith and representatives from the Music & Arts Center with present the Gary T. Smith Accomplished Musician Award at a concert of honors and jazz bands at 7 p.m.
The award is in honor of Mr. Smith, who taught instrumental music in the district for 43 years. The Music and Arts Center created an award that will be given annually to a student who embodies the same dedication to music, humble attitude, cooperative spirit and outstanding musicianship as Mr. Smith.
Garden club to sell
plants at meeting
Thursday, May 26 — The Neshanic Garden Club will hold its monthly meeting at 10 a.m. at the Station House on Olive Street, Neshanic Station. Past President Jean Stives will present the monthly study on irises.
There will be an auction of plants brought in by members. Proceeds will help the club continue its gardening efforts.

Saturday June 4 — A chicken barbecue dinner and bake sale will be held at the South Branch Reformed Church, 870 River Road, from 4:30-7 p.m.

Monday, June 6 — Hillsborough Volunteer Fire Co No. 3 will hold its 11th annual golf outing at Royce Brook Golf Club with an 8:30 a.m. shotgun start.

Monday, June 13 — Business counseling sessions by Raritan Valley Community College’s Small Business Development Center will be held at the Affinity Federal Credit Union’s Hillsborough branch at Hillsborough Promenade, 315 Route 206 North, from 1 to 5 p.m.

Garden club to see
butterfly exhibit
Thursday, June 16 — The Neshanic Garden Club will hold its installation of 2011-12 officers, annual meeting and butterfly garden tour at the Buttinger Butterfly Garden at Stony Brook Watershed in Pennington.

Alzheimer’s support group — The Alzheimer’s Association has a support group in Hillsborough. Family members and caregivers come together to share information and support in a safe, confidential atmosphere.
Meetings are the second Wednesday of each month at 1 p.m. in the sunroom at Emeritus Senior Living, 600 Auten Road, Hillsborough. Call 431-1300 if attending.
