Two women, including one from Manville, were charged with possession of drugs following a tip that led police to a Hillsborough motel room on Saturday.
Township police got a call at about 10:30 a.m. that people were using drugs inside a room at the Days Inn on Route 206 South. Officers responded and learned that another guest had allegedly seen Tracy Plummer, 42, of Plainfield and Lisa Weber, 47, of Manville to have several small plastic bags of drugs.
The witness also told police that a silver handgun was seen in the room and it may have been put in Ms. Plummer’s car.
Police went to the room. Police said Ms. Plummer was found to have a large plastic bag containing smaller bags of cocaine, crack cocaine and 28 oxycodone pills. She also had $593 on her and a set of keys to a Mercedes-Benz.
Police said Ms. Weber had crack cocaine and drug paraphernalia, police said.
Township police said they were granted consent to search the room, which resulted in the seizure of 17.3 grams of crack cocaine, 4.5 grams of cocaine and such drug paraphernalia as crack pipes, packaging material, a digital scale and numerous cell phones.
Detectives sought and received a search warrant for Ms. Plummer’s 1993 Mercedes Benz in the hotel parking lot. A search of the vehicle found a loaded silver Lorcin .380 handgun and drug paraphernalia, police said.
Somerset County Prosecutor Geoffrey Soriano said estimated street values were $1,500 for the crack cocaine, $450 for the cocaine and $560 for the oxycodone pills.
Ms. Plummer was charged with second-degree unlawful possession of a handgun; two counts of third-degree possession of a controlled dangerous substance, and second-degree possession of CDS with intent to distribute.
She was taken to the Somerset County Jail with bail set at $75,000 bail with no 10-percent cash option.
Ms. Weber was charged with third-degree possession of CDS and possession of drug paraphernalia, a disorderly persons offense. She was released on her own recognizance.
Assisting in the call were officers from the Somerset County Prosecutor’s Office Narcotics Task Force.
