LAWRENCE: Donahue resigns from school board

By Lea Kahn
The Lawrence Township Board of Education is seeking a replacement for board member David Donahue, who resigned from the school board this week.
Citing a move to California to accept a new job next month, Mr. Donahue submitted his resignation to school board President Laura Waters. His three-year term expires in April 2013.
”We are sad to see David Donahue go, though we send him hearty best wishes and continued success,” Ms. Waters said. “In his short time on the board, Dave has been a source of intelligent analysis, fairness and devotion to the children of Lawrence Township.”
Meanwhile, Ms. Waters said interested applicants should submit a resume or letter of interest to Thomas Eldridge, the school district’s business administrator, by June 10. The letter or resume must be submitted by mail or in person. E-mail is not acceptable.
The board will interview all candidates in public at its June 13 meeting at the Lawrence High School Library. The board will go into closed session for discussion. It is anticipated that the board will select a candidate that night and swear in the new member at that meeting.
A letter of interest or resume may be mailed to the Lawrence Township Board of Education, in care of Thomas Eldridge, to 2565 Princeton Pike, Lawrenceville, NJ 08648. The school board office is open weekdays from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.
