Lambertville
May 9 at 10 a.m., Patrolman Joseph Weber was called to a residence on Hancock Street for a reported theft.
Justin J. Lane, 29, of Lambertville, reported the theft of a park-style wooden bench with wrought iron bottom and sides. The bench was taken from the bed of his pickup truck that was parked in his driveway.
Mr. Lane said the value of the bench was $250.
Friday at 12:41 p.m., Maria Rosales-Sanches, 39, of Lambertville, reported the theft of a jewelry box from her residence on Swan Street.
Sgt. Michael O’Rourke is investigating.
Saturday at 3:29 p.m., Ancelmo Cruz Morales, 32, of Lahaska, Pennsylvania, was stopped on Route 179 for speeding by Patrolman Michael Gramlich.
Mr. Morales was found to have a warrant from Lambertville Municipal Court for $269. He posted bail and was released.
He also was charged with speeding, being an unlicensed driver and driving while his New Jersey privileges are suspended.
May 11 at 10:15 p.m., police responded to the North Main Street apartment of William Sloane, 57, at the request of the building manager, Georgene Young, who was concerned she had not seen Mr. Sloane, who lived alone, for several days.
Upon arrival, police and fire personnel found the apartment door locked with the security chain engaged.
After receiving no response, forced entry was made. Mr. Sloane was found dead, lying on the bedroom floor with a plastic bag around his head, secured by twine.
Investigators from the police, Hunterdon County prosecutor’s office and medical examiner’s office deemed the death to be a suicide.
The victim did not leave any note or other evidence that might provide a reason for taking his own life, but it was determined he did have a history of psychiatric illness.
