Princeton Merchants Association members got an arts and transit update at its Tuesday meeting.
The borough has introduced a new zoning ordinance to create an arts, education and transit neighborhood and the township will introduce its own zoning ordinance “toward the beginning of June,” said Township Mayor Chad Goerner, who spoke at the meeting at the Nassau.
The new zone would allow Princeton University to build its proposed $300 million Lewis Center for the Arts and move the Dinky 460 feet farther south.
He also spoke about some of the highlights of memorandum of understanding between the municipalities and the university that came out a couple of weeks ago that would prevent the university, which owns the Dinky station, from moving again after this project is complete.
The memorandum also establishes a joint transportation trust fund, right of ways and a public awareness plan for Tiger Transit to get people to and from the station.
