The pool project is moving forward and bid packets will be available for contractors to pick up next week.
”It’s the official start of the project,” said Ben Stentz, recreation director.
Contractors will have a walk-through opportunity at a pre-bid meeting after the packets are picked up.
”It gives contractors a chance after they review the paperwork to walk the site and clarify any questions about the bid,” said Mr. Stentz.
Contractors are being asked to submit bids with three different construction methods — Mertha, which is a higher-end product with less maintenance; stainless steel walls and concrete floor, and all concrete — for the pool itself with only one option being selected for award at the end of the process.
”There will be three projects with three prices and the governing bodies and joint rec board will evaluate all that information,” said Mr. Stentz.
Bids will be opened by the township engineering department about a month after the packets are handed out.
”That’s their expertise and we rely on them,” he said.
No date for public reveal was known by press time, but “it’s going to have to happen with a month to six weeks to stay on schedule to award the contract.”
The contract must be awarded by mid-summer for a September start to construction of the new pool complex.
Contractors interested in picking up packets should call Princeton Township Engineering Department at (609) 921-7077 for more information.
