FLORENCE The Township Council unanimously agreed to cut $100,000 from the school district’s defeated 2011-12 budget, May 18.
The K-12 district’s total operating budget of $27.9 million was defeated by a 508-450 vote on April 27.
The $100,000 reduction will make the tax levy $14.3 million, the new levy is $14.2 million.
The council recommended a number of line items be cut from the proposed amounts including tuition to the Burlington County Institute of Technology and health benefits.
The actual line items that are cut are at sole discretion of the school board but the $100,000 in reductions is a binding amount.
The budget is now at the county superintendent’s office for final approval.
